Latest Journey

As many of you can tell, I have decided to start a new blog. Let me start by saying...I DO NOT promise to keep it updated but will try! Now that I have that out of the way, here is the latest "dirt" on Doaks Creek Farm.

I will start with Danny because I am so proud of him! At the age of 35, Danny is in the process of completing classes to take his GED. I couldn't be more proud of him! Landyn has had a busy summer with bible school, skills camp, tumbling classes, and horse shows, but it is all coming to an end as she gets ready to start 1st grade at Canton Academy next week. Brendon has spent a lot of his summer with his daddy on the tractor. He is obsessed with tractors and hunting! Brendon will be at First Pres. of Canton in the 3K class this year. I can not believe that they will be at separate schools! Where do the years go? I guess, that leaves me. What can I say besides I have just been BUSY keeping up with everyone and everything between home and work. I did manage to get forced into slow down mode last week as I spent 8 days in the hospital with asthma problems. Mississippi weather and asthma don't really jive together too well, unfortunately for me! I have not been released to go back to work yet, so I continue to SIT and be BORED because I can't go outside yet when its 100 degrees! Its difficult to live in the country on a farm and NOT go outside! On a positive note, I will be home for the kids first week of school and maybe I can get some sewing done while I am home. Oh yea, in October, I am going on a medical mission trip to Haiti, which I am SO EXCITED about!

Okay, I have to give an update on the farm animals! The "girls" (our female alpacas)are in Ohio being re-bred. We will go pick them up in September and bring them home, along with our cria that we had in February. The cria, Denver, had to go with his mom since he was still nursing. I can't wait to see him. I just hope he hasn't grown too much while he has been gone. The "boys" (our male alpacas), the llamas, and the horses are just trying to make it through the terrible heat. Needless to say, they spend most of their day either, in the barn in front of the fans or playing in the water to keep cool. The baby chickens are steadily growing! In about 2 months, we will go from having 3 egg laying chickens to 13! The babies don't start laying until they reach 4-5 months old. If you are interested in having fresh and natural eggs, let me know!

I think that about covers the "dirt" on Doaks Creek Farm.
